When will my child make his/her first Confession?
Those who have not yet made their first Confession will prepare to do so along with their First Communion. Please see the following section for information about First Communion classes, which will also prepare you for the Sacrament of Confession.
The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life." "The other sacraments... are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch." (CCC 1324)
St. John XXIII welcomes children who have already been baptized to prepare for the second Sacrament of Initiation, the Sacrament of Holy Communion. We offer First Communion classes for students beginning in second grade. This is a two-year program, and students will prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation along with the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Students will receive both sacraments during their second year in the program.
For children who have not been baptized, please see the next section for details about RCIA for children, which prepares children to be fully received into the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation together.
For high school students and adults who have not received First Communion, please see the next section for details about our Confirmation programs, which will prepare you for the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation together.
